Baerami launch son of Storm Cat
6 August 2009 Where’s That Tiger (USA) to commence stud duties in 2009 Baerami Thoroughbreds will launch the stud career of Where's That Tiger (USA) following the imported galloper’s retirement from training in Australia.
A magnificently bred son of revered sire-of-sires Storm Cat, Where’s That Tiger commenced his racing career in Ireland where he was a successful member of the all-conquering Ballydoyle team.
Where’s That Tiger actually scored on debut at The Curragh for master trainer Aidan O'Brien, landing a 2YO Maiden over 5 furlongs.
Significantly, all three starts during his juvenile year were at the imperial equivalent of 1000 metres, including his close-up fourth in the Listed Aubigny Stakes at Goodwood.
The second phase of Where’s That Tiger’s race career came in the United Arab Emirates, where his three outings as a 3-year-old witnessed him post a notable placing in Group company.
At his first start for the globetrotting South African trainer Mike de Kock, Where’s That Tiger finished runner-up in the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas (1400m), beaten half-a-length after racing wide for most of the contest.
Where’s That Tiger also placed second over 1800 metres during his three-race career in Dubai, before his subsequent transfer to Australia in order to embark on a local racing career.
During his time in training with champion trainer Gai Waterhouse, the son of Storm Cat showed distinct promise for his intended racing career on these shores, winning a Rosehill barrier trial over 900 metres. An indication of his obvious talent is illustrated in the fact that Where’s That Tiger finished clear of five individual stakes horses in the trial, including the notable Group 3 winner Hoystar and the Group 1 performed Banc de Fortune.
However, a recent decision was made to retire the valuable stud prospect unraced in Australia and Where’s That Tiger will now be available for duties at Baerami Thoroughbreds from the beginning of the 2009 breeding season.
The bloodlines of Where’s That Tiger are infinitely familiar to local broodmare owners. A son of one of the world’s most acclaimed stallions and sires-of-sires, Baerami’s newcomer is from a full-sister to Kentucky Derby winner and successful international sire Fusaichi Pegasus (USA).
One of the most prominent shuttle stallions used in Australia in recent time, the visits of Fusaichi Pegasus to Coolmore Australia were responsible for the likes of triple Group 1 winner Haradasun, Hong Kong star Floral Pegasus, as well as the notable stakes winners Flying Pegasus, Just Dancing, Yuro, Pure Joy and champion 2-year-old colt Zizou.
The profiles of both Storm Cat and Fusaichi Pegasus seem certain to stand Where's That Tiger in very good stead for his impending stud career and greatly enhance his appeal to local broodmare owners.
