Danasinga Shines at the Sales
2 February 2007 Ok, we are very biased, you could even describe us as "one eyed" supports of our stallions. As far as we are concerned they are the best group of horses you could possibly wish for. We are almost fanatical. Yet even we cannot believe the enormous support Danasinga has received at the New Zealand sale so far in 2007.
He kicked off at the 2 day Premier session with a 100% clearance rate, an average of 105k and a median of 80k, huge returns when compared to his 2006 fee of 15k + GST. The list of buyers was no less impressive with the Hong Kong Jockey Club claiming two plus the likes of Graeme Rogerson, Grant Pritchard-Gordon of Badgers Bloodstock, Vin Cox and John Chalmers all heading home with an order filled by this outstanding son of Danehill. Prices like 200k, 160k, 140k etc show the high regard in which he is held. You would think this would be bragging rights enough for any stallion but more was yet to come.
After two days of the Premier sale it was time for the Select section to be auctioned. Equivalent to a Classic, Melbourne or session 5 at the Magic Millions, Danasinga was again to the fore. After 2 days selling his median was sitting at 85k, even higher than the main part of the sale, and his average was still at a very healthy 75k, or 5 times his service fee in '06. We say it again and again but Baerami stallions really do offer breeders the best value for money. Big numbers like 155k, 120k, 110k etc were paid and big name buyers were again to the fore with Badgers and Chalmers Bloodstock purchasing once more plus the likes of Tony Bott, Michael Steadman, John Foote, Paul Moroney, Kranji Thoroughbreds of Singapore and perennial supports Acquanita. We always consider who buys horses as important as how much is paid so an impressive list like this makes for good reading from our point of view.
We will continue to monitor results closely however it is clear that in the two years that Danasinga has been with us that he has gone from strength to strength both on the track and at the sales. Of course, we can claim no credit yet for anything other than foresight however we are proud of "Dan" and feel vindication for ourselves and those clients astute enough to already have progeny on the ground, in utero or with Danasinga firmly in their future plans.
